Introduction

The Renewable Energy Program at Northern New Mexico College will provide you with the information and practical experience necessary to design and build or install various types of renewable energy systems. It emphasizes conservation and efficiency as the first step in any renewable energy endeavor through a study of historical, modern, and emerging technologies and materials. As a graduate you will be capable of being employed with construction firms, renewable energy firms, alternative technology firms design and planning firms, or of being self-employed as a specialized subcontractor. You will be capable of designing and building your own off-the-grid homes and vehicles.

In addition to the “live” classes offered in El Rito, New Mexico, we are now also offering classes via the internet. This is a great way to get started in this field regardless of your location.

Northern New Mexico College offers two degrees in the field of Renewable Energy:

  • Certificate in Renewable Energy (2 semesters)
  • Associate of Applied Science in Renewable Energy (4 semesters)

Please visit the Degrees & Courses page for a link to the college catalog containing detailed information on course requirements for the two degrees as well as detailed descriptions of classes presently being offered by the department.
